Reiki
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is an ancient Japanese technique used for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki, also known as Universal Life Force Energy, helps to balance and stabilize the body’s life energy systems.
Life force energy circulates within and around the body. Life force energy plays an important role in our health as well as everything we do. Reiki benefits all people regardless of age, race or religion. Reiki’s only requirement is that you be open to receive it. Reiki energy is spiritual as it nourishes the spirit or essence of each person. It is not religion, and blends well into all religious practices.
In a Reiki session hands are gently placed on the body which allows the unseen “Life Force Energy” of Reiki to flow gently into the body. It works in conjunction with other medical or therapeutic techniques to help reduce the side effects of drugs and promote recovery. Reiki is not a substitute for other medical treatment s but works well with all traditional therapies.
Reiki is done in a quiet setting on a table or in a chair. There is soft music playing in the background to assist with relaxation. If there is a specific area that is of concern that area can be targeted by the Reiki practitioner. If there is no area of specific interest you need focused on the Reiki practitioner can allow them selves to be guided by Reiki to where ever the body is in need of healing life force energy.
Reiki balances the body, mind and spirit and can be used for:
- Relief from pain and anxiety
- Stress reduction; relaxation
- Promotion of health and well-being; restoration of vitality; self-care
- Enhancing and accelerating the normal healing processes of the body
- Enhancing the body’s ability to recover from injuries, surgery, or trauma
- Relief from physical and emotional effects of stress
- Assisting the body in clearing toxins (such as chemotherapy or radiation)
- Balancing body, mind and spirit
Reiki can never do harm and is non-invasive. It is a very gentle technique that has no side effects. During a Reiki session your body receives only as much Reiki as it needs. There is no way to receive too much Reiki or over-dose.
Reiki can also be provided at a distance. If you live in another state or can not make it in to the office you can relax in the comfort of your own home and receive the benefit of Reiki through Distance Reiki. You would schedule an appointment with the Reiki practitioner and find a quiet place to either lie down or sit so you can relax and receive Reiki. It has the same benefit as if you are receiving Reiki in person.
Reiki can be taught to anyone who has the desire to learn. It is received through an “attunement” which can only be passed on by Reiki Master Teacher. If you are interested in learning more about Reiki or becoming a Certified Reiki Practitioner please contact me.
